Kann man Hyperliquid in Deutschland nutzen?
Verified against Hyperliquid Terms of Use · by Hyperliquid Academy
Availability
Germany is not among Hyperliquid’s restricted jurisdictions. German residents can use the exchange, and there is no identity check, no application and no proof of address.
Regulation
Hyperliquid holds no BaFin authorisation. In practice that means German investor protection rules do not apply to it, there is no domestic complaints route, and there is no compensation scheme behind your balance.
That does not make your use of it unlawful. It means the protections attached to a German-regulated platform are simply not present, and self-custody puts the consequences with you.
Tax, which is the part worth care in Germany
German tax treatment of derivatives is materially different from the treatment of simply holding a crypto asset, and the rules on offsetting derivative losses are notably restrictive. Perpetual futures are derivatives.
This is not a place to rely on a guide or a forum. The combination of derivative treatment, loss offsetting limits and the volume of individual transactions that active trading produces makes it a genuine professional question. Two things you can do regardless:
Export your trade history regularly. Every fill and every funding payment. Reconstructing a year of activity afterwards is painful and expensive.
Decide your framing before you scale up, not after. The cost of getting this wrong grows with the size of the activity.
Getting funds in
- Buy USDC on an exchange serving German customers, funding in euro.
- Withdraw it on a chain the deposit window accepts. Arbitrum is usually cheapest.
- Keep a small amount of that chain’s gas token for the deposit transaction.
- Deposit from your wallet, following our deposit guide.
There is no euro on-ramp inside the exchange, so the conversion happens before the funds arrive.
Before your first trade
Apply a referral code first if you want the fee discount, because it cannot be attached later. Then set leverage low, use isolated margin, and read how liquidation is calculated before you size anything seriously.
Frequently asked questions
Is Hyperliquid legal in Germany?
Germany is not on the restricted list, so the exchange's terms do not prohibit German residents from using it. It is not BaFin-authorised, which is a separate matter and affects what protection you have.
Is Hyperliquid BaFin-regulated?
No. There is no German authorisation, so German investor protection rules and complaint routes do not apply to it.
How are perpetual futures taxed in Germany?
Derivative gains are treated differently from gains on holding crypto assets, and the rules for offsetting losses on derivatives are restrictive. This is a case where professional advice is genuinely worth the fee.
How do I fund an account from Germany?
Buy USDC on an exchange serving German customers, withdraw it on a supported chain such as Arbitrum, keep a little gas token, and deposit from your wallet.
